Argus Panoptes

Argus Panoptes, a figure from ancient Greek mythology, is a giant possessing superhuman strength and one hundred watchful eyes.  His epithet means "all-seeing," reflecting that he was a very effective watchman.  Argus provided constant protection for those people and possession placed in his care.  Since only a few of his eyes would sleep at a time, Argus was always able to see danger approaching.  According to legend, Argus' eyes have been forever preserved in the tail of a peacock.
